INSTALL Version 8.32 Firmware for HP P420i Smart Array

* Was installed at CBCC on 12/7/2021
* NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED ON OCC SERVER

Firmware needs to be at LEAST version 8 to work properly with linux. Failure to do so will cause large wait timeouts when disk array is put under load for a few minutes (e.g. copy 40gig file - things will start to stick causing Virtual machines to timeout and crash)

Install:

Recommend using Winscp (portable version available) - connect with user root, password (standard admin password), host should be the IP of the proxmox host server (e.g. proxmox address at cbcc is https://172.20.30.220:8006 - so the host would be 172.20.30.220 -- at OCC it will be 172.17.30.220 )

Copy the hp-firmware-smartarray??? folder to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu (full path will be /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/hp-firmware-smartarray-46a4d957a7-8.32-1.1 )

Copy the CP033363.scexe file to your root folder (/root )

Using Putty, connect and run the CP033363.scexe file as follows:

(login with root and normal pw)
cd /root
bash CP033363.scexe

You should see the P420i adapter listed - follow the prompts to update it.

When done, it should instruct you to reboot for the changes to become active. You can reboot with the command: reboot

* NOTE - Reboot might take a while if there are virtual machines running - they have around 5 minutes to shutdown properly before proxmox will hard reboot.
